Newcastle's 4-Man Head Coach Shortlist - And 4 Names Who Should Still Be In The Frame

... 4 Names Who Should Still Be In The Frame...

4. David Moyes

Age: 52 Nationality: Scottish Clubs Managed: Preston North End (1998-2002), Everton (2002-13), Manchester United (2013-14), Real Sociedad (2014-) Managerial Honours: 1999-2000 Second Division Champion (Preston North End), 2013 FA Community Shield (Manchester United)
David Moyes denied last month that he was is in line to become the next Newcastle United head coach despite reports claiming he was due to take over at St James€™ Park this summer - but he would be a positive appointment should the Magpies be able to prise him away from Spain, however that now appears unlikely with the Scot reportedly left off the shortlist. The former Manchester United manager only moved to become Real Sociedad boss in November and Moyes has stated he is €œnot going anywhere€ this summer. After 11 extremely-successful years at Everton - where he led them to regular top-six finishes despite operating on a modest budget - Moyes took charge at Old Trafford in the summer of 2013 but failed to win anything or qualify for the Champions League during his first season. Having been sacked last April, he took charge at Sociedad in November and has overseen 10 wins from his 31 games in charge, leading the club to 12th in La Liga. A manager with Premier League experience and who performed admirably on a consistent basis on a small budget at Everton, Moyes has a career win ratio of 44.12% (368 wins from 834 games) - and he realises he is unlikely to get an opportunity with one of the English big boys again. The Newcastle job could therefore prove tempting - even if he would have to work under Mike Ashley's restrictions - but it doesn't look like the Magpies are going to come calling this time around.
