Newcastle's Potential Starting XI If Magpies Are Relegated

3. Andros Townsend

Although he moved to Tyneside hoping to be noticed enough to book himself a place in the England squad heading to Euro 2016, the former Spurs man may find himself playing Championship football next season. The January signing would have signed a large contract on arrival and will be unlikely to find a club who will match his weekly wage if he was to look towards the exit. Because of this, Townsend may be tempted to stick it out in the Championship for one season and, like Shelvey, show the Magpies fans that he is committed to the cause. With Gigi Wijnaldum one of our stand-out performers this season, we will struggle to cling on to the former PSV captain even if we were to stay in the Premier League, so Townsend would have little competition in making the position on the left flank his own - especially with Sylvain Marveaux's career at Newcastle fading away with a whimper.
