Now we're really starting to get into the realms of genuinely-class players. Terry McDermott was a favourite during his two spells at St James' Park as a player - but it was at Liverpool that he really rose into the stratosphere of quality performers. Between 1974 and 1982, McDermott claimed 16 trophies - including four First Division titles and three European Cups - and he helped make Liverpool a dominant force on the continent, as well as in England. Also capped 25 times by England, McDermott claimed the 1977 BBC goal-of-the-season award for his chip against Everton in the FA Cup semi-final - a strike which helped Liverpool win a historic "treble" that season. Strong on the ball and a player with an eye for goal during his Anfield days, McDermott was a reliable midfielder who helped the Reds rule Europe on three occasions.
