Newcastle's Premier League Managers Ranked As Players - Worst To Best
6. Sir Bobby Robson
Newcastle United Manager: 1999-2004 Position: Inside Forward Clubs Played For: Fulham (1950-56 and 1962-67), West Bromwich Albion (1956-62), Vancouver Royals (1967-68) League Appearances (Goals): 583 (133) International Side (Caps/Goals): England (20/4) Honours (As A Player): N/A A manager of the very-highest calibre, Bobby Robson was also a brilliant footballer during his playing days - even if he didn't represent any of England's traditional "big clubs". Robson's playing career saw him represent Fulham (twice), West Bromwich Albion and Vancouver Royals - and he scored 133 league goals in 583 games as an inside forward, although he was often shifted back into midfield as well. Capped 20 times for England between 1957 and 1962, Robson played in the 1958 World Cup - and he would have done so in the 1962 edition too, but for an ankle injury. Although he is not always mentioned alongside the likes of Tom Finney or Stanley Matthews, Robson was an extremely-talented international footballer. He did not claim any honours during his career, but that was largely down to the clubs he represented and not due to his lack of ability. Unfortunately not good enough to make the top five, but that's because there are some incredible players coming up...
