Another Tottenham Hotspur full-back who went on to manage Newcastle, Chris Hughton shades Kinnear in this list - but only just. The 53-cap Republic of Ireland left-back played for Spurs between 1977 and 1990 and lifted the FA Cup (twice) and the UEFA Cup before leaving for West Ham United and then Brentford. A quietly-spoken defender, Hughton started all three of Ireland's matches at UEFA Euro 1988 during his international career - and he is considered by Spurs fans as one of the club's finest-ever full-backs.
