NFL: 5 Pre-season Position Battles To Keep An Eye On
-->
3. Oakland Raiders Starting Quarterback
One could certainly argue that the Oakland Raiders are, yet again, the worst team in the NFL. Hopefully for them, one of their brand new quarterbacks could help turn the franchise around, and return it to its glory days. With Carson Palmer gone to Arizona, the Raiders currently have a gap at the quarterback position, but they got two new quarterbacks this offseason to compete for the job. In one corner, you have Matt Flynn. Flynn was highly thought of by many NFL franchises after backing up Aaron Rogers in Green Bay, but never received the contract many thought he would receive. On top of this, after signing with the Seattle Seahawks, Flynn didnt even win the starting position, backing up a rookie for the whole year.
This offseason, he was traded to Oakland. In the other corner, you have the rookie quarterback, Tyler Wilson. Wilson was selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, and so far in practices has looked dominant in quarterback drills. There is also quarterback Terrelle Pryor on this roster, but I dont expect him to give Flynn or Wilson any competition for the starting position. Could Flynn lose his starting spot to a rookie for a second year in a row? Only time will tell, but how both quarterbacks perform during the preseason games should determine this battle.
My projected winner: Tyler Wilson
