NHL Results By Division 7th - 13th November

Another busy hockey week sees the Bruins wake up to the new season and the Red Wings pick their form up. Its all movement and change this week in the NHL. Here's the round up of the week that was.

Eastern ConferenceAtlantic Division Philadelphia 1-0-1 Points 3 Total 23 Pittsburgh 1-1-0 Points 2 Total 23 NY Rangers 2-0-0 Points 4 Total 21 New Jersey 1-1-0 Points 2 Total 17 NY Islanders 0-2-1 Points 1 Total 11 The top three in this division are slowly moving away from the Devils and Islanders, a good week for the Rangers keeps them afloat and a poor week for their rivals on Long Island keeps them on the bottom. The Penguins who have been so dominant in the early season have been leap frogged by their rivals in Philadelphia and i think we can look forward to a fierce battle for the top spot over the coming weeks. North East Division Buffalo 2-1-0 Points 4 Total 22 Toronto 1-2-0 Points 2 Total 21 Montreal 1-1-0 Points 2 Total 17 Ottawa 1-2-0 Points 2 Total 17 Boston 3-0-0 Points 6 Total 16 Boston fans must be thinking "Finally!" as their team won all three of their game and came within two points of getting off the bottom, they'l certainly be hoping that the cup hangover is over at last. At the top Toronto have given up the lead to an energized Buffalo side but they will likely duke it out with the Habs and Bruins all season, these good early starts could be a little misleading. I fully expect the Senators to be on the bottom by next week. Sorry Sens fans. South East Division Washington 1-1-1 Points 3 Total 21 Florida 2-1-0 Points 4 Total 19 Tampa Bay 1-0-0 Points 2 Total 18 Carolina 1-2-0 Points 2 Total 15 Winnipeg 0-1-1 Points 1 Total 15 The suprise team in the South East is Florida, the mass purge that happened at the end of last season seems to be working at the moment, they are playing consistently and managing to win. Playoff's for the Panthers this season? Tampa Bay are on their heels but only played one game this week and although it wasn't a win they really need a run of wins to start challenging Washington who remain, as ever atop the division. Winnapeg will hope that this week isn't a sign of things to come and a winning week is needed if they want to stay in touch with their far flung divisional neigbours. Western ConferenceCentral Division Chicago 3-1-0 Points 6 Total 25 Detroit 3-0-0 Points 6 Total 19 Nashville 1-1-0 Points 2 Total 19 St Louis 1-0-1 Points 3 Total 17 Columbus 0-1-0 Points 0 Total 7 Chicago are running away with this division and although the Red Wings managed a perfect week they are still a way off, their fans will be invoking voodoo and hoping for a raft of Blackhawk injuries to derail that steam train. For me though the story of this division is still the Blue Jackets, what the hell is going on in Columbus? This should be a good team with the guys they picked up. St Louis managed to take points in both of their games with their new coach and they'l be hoping that it's a sign of things to come. North West Division Minnesota 2-1-0 Points 4 Total 21 Edmonton 1-3-0 Points 2 Total 20 Vancouver 2-1-0 Points 4 Total 19 Colorado 1-1-0 Points 2 Total 17 Calgary 0-2-0 Points 0 Total15 Mike Yeo is really doing his thing in Minnesota and they've taken the top spot this week, Edmonton seem to be failing after some good weeks, they need to steady the ship next week. The Canucks are gradually moving their way back to the top spot that they undoubtedly feel should be theirs. No such assurance exists in Colarado or Calgary, who are starting to struggle to keep up with the pack. Pacific Division Dallas 1-2-0 Points 2 Total 22 Phoenix0-0-1 Points 1 Total 19 San Jose 2-0-0 Points 4 Total 19 Los Angeles 1-2-0 Points 2 Total 19 Anaheim 1-2-0 Points 2 Total 15 The only team not challenging for the top spot in this division is the Ducks, whats going on Anaheim? This is supposed to be the division that anyone could win all season until eventually the Sharks take the title. But to be serious for a moment, the Stars still hold the lead as they have all season but they stumbled a little this week but those Sharks are the only team that did the business this week and it really does remain up in the air.
