Norwich 1-0 Arsenal: 5 Things Gunners Fans Learned

5. Gervinho Is Still Lost

Gervinho was deployed on the wings once again, and he was just awful. He loves to dribble the ball, but nothing productive ever comes out of his efforts. He always has trouble beating his man, and once he realizes he's trapped, he tries to cut back and shoot, which always ends up being blocked or intercepted. He botched several runs into the defense which resulted at least 2 offside calls when he clearly could have timed his runs better. I don't understand why he tries to take on his man every time he gets the ball on the edge of the area, because his dribbling skills are so predictable and almost pathetic. When he does beat his man, he tries to execute a diagonal ground cross into the middle of the box, when the box is clearly loaded and crowded with defenders. Gervinho clearly has a poor understanding of the game, and ends up making the wrong choice more often than not. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should probably have started ahead of him on Saturday.
