NUFC Need To Go And Get Burnley Boss Sean Dyche
He's the perfect fit for The Magpies...
Despite ending their run of eight successive defeats with the 1-1 home draw with West Brom on Saturday, Newcastle United still need a bonafide manager to lead the club forward. There's only one contender out there that fits the bill and his name is Sean Dyche. Ginger Mourinho, as he's so affectionately known around the Lancashire area, saw his side defiantly relegated from the Premier League following their 1-0 away win at Newcastle's relegation rivals Hull City. Now many of you will be questioning why a manager with a relegation on his CV is getting talked up for one of the bigger jobs in England, but the fact that he's kept that side in it with three games to go is nothing short of a miracle. Look at the players at his disposal. The likes of Heaton, Trippier, Boyd and Ings aside, he's working with a team of no hopers that would struggle to compete for a mid table place in the Championship on paper. However, he took that side and drew at home with Manchester United, beat Spurs, drew away to Manchester City and held us to two draws despite having to make all three changes inside the first half-an-hour at St James' in January. He certainly knows how to get the best of his players. He certainly knows how to filed a side with heart and a never say die attitude, something that has been missing from NE1 for at least four years or so. You also have to look at the current flavour of the month Eddie Howe when weighing up Sean's suitability for the NUFC job. The Bournemouth manager cut short his first spell at The Cherries and tried his had at managing The Clarets. However, he failed, winning only 34 of 87 games and not even lasting a season. Dyche, who had done similarly sterling work at Watford beforehand, grabbed the Turf Moor outfit by the scruff of the neck and hauled them up into the big time against all adversity. The man from Kettering worked wonders with one of the bottom four budgets in the division, trumping free spending sides like QPR, Derby and the other relegated Premier League teams in the process. Dyche > Howe. Showing that he can work miracles on a shoe string proves beyond doubt that he is the perfect fit for a club that doesn't exactly splash the cash in the transfer window under Mike Ashley. Then again, it remains to be seen whether a man with principles like Sean's would work under the restrictions put in place by Ashley. You can tell he is the no nonsense type that wouldn't settle for anything less that total control over transfers and the like, something he wouldn't get at St James' Park. Another positive in the Dyche column would be the possibility of Danny Ings joining in the summer. Sean is the man who put the former Bournemouth man, who has scored 10 of The Clarets 27 league goals so far this term, well and truly on the map. In all reality, Ingsy owes his career to the former Chesterfield captain. At the end of the day, it is slightly worrying that the Newcastle hierarchy don't seem to recognise that there are other managers out there apart from Steve McClaren. Once The Rams' boss rejected the chance to step up to the Premier League, they should have been straight on the phone to someone else. Maybe they were waiting for Burnley's inevitable relegation, we'll certainly find out more this week. If so, they better act swiftly before someone else does...
