1. Birthdays
Mike Jeffrey (1971) Liverpool-born striker Mike Jeffrey made just two league appearances for Newcastle United without scoring between 1993 and 1995. He did net during a League Cup match against Manchester City at Maine Road in April 1994 though. The 5ft 11in forward, now 44, started his career at Bolton Wanderers and played for the likes of Doncaster Rovers, Rotherham United, Kilmarnock and Grimsby Town before retiring in 2002.
Paul Talbot (1979) A versatile defender and midfielder, Gateshead-born full-back Paul Talbot never actually made a league appearance for the Magpies despite being at the club right from his youth through until 2000. Now 36, Talbot went on to represent York City, Gateshead, Burton Albion and Queen of the South.
