Whether in an England shirt or a Tottenham shirt, every time Eric Dier steps onto the pitch he puts in a solid performance, leading the team and inspiring those around him to perform better. Starting his Tottenham career as a centre back, Dier has now solidified himself primarily as a midfielder with the ability to drop back into defence.

Eric Dier is England's prime example of a player possessing wisdom beyond his years. In just four years since his £4 million transfer from Sporting Lisbon to Tottenham, the 24 year old has established himself as one of the most, if not the most integral player in the entire Spurs squad.

In his youth, Dier rejected an approach to represent Portugal internationally, going on to earn 25 caps and the captain's armband for England, all before his 25th birthday. All things considered, Eric Dier is all but guaranteed to be selected by Gareth Southgate, and will most likely start in the centre of midfield.
