Predicting England's World Cup Squad
7. Jake Livermore
There has been something of a shortage of quality English central midfielders in recent years, and if England had the same players to choose from now that they did several years ago, Jake Livermore wouldn't even be in the conversation for a spot in a World Cup squad.
However, with Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick, and Milner no longer in the frame, the West Brom midfielder may find himself on the plane to Russia, though with the likes of Dier, Henderson, Loftus-Cheek, Lallana, and Alli in the team, he is unlikely to see too much time on the pitch.
After being relegated from the Premier League with West Brom, and getting in trouble for allegedly stealing a taxi in Barcelona, Livermore's season has been one to forget. However, Southgate admires the commitment Livermore has to playing for his national team, which may be enough to see the former Hull City player on his way to Russia.
It is worth nothing, that had Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain not been injured, this slot would have been his with very little competition from anyone else.
