Predicting England's World Cup Squad
6. Jack Wilshere
There are few England players as polarising as Jack Wilshere. Half the population call him overrated, while the other half believe he can be integral to Arsenal's, and possibly England's success. His main rival for this spot in the squad is another controversial character, Jonjo Shelvey. While both are great players on their day, both have their setbacks, with neither being able to perform well on a consistent basis.
Though obviously a naturally talented player, something has stopped Shelvey from being a success at both Liverpool and Swansea. That something is a lack of discipline and a bad attitude, which cannot be solved overnight.
Wilshere's setback however, can possibly be kept at bay for a month or so. As a youngster, the Arsenal No. 10 had what seemed like unlimited potential, but constant injuries have kept him from ever living up to the hype. If the England staff can keep Wilshere injury free for the duration of the tournament, he would make a valuable member of the squad. A task like this however, is certainly easier said than done.
