When Adam Lallana is fit he is a major asset to both Liverpool and England, the only downside being that he is injured about as often as he is fit. This season he has been limited to just 11 Premier League appearances for the Reds, his lowest tally since joining the club.

This has also limited his time playing for England under Gareth Southgate, featuring in less than half of the games the former Middlesbrough manager has took charge of. In spite of the lack of time together, selecting Lallana would be a gamble well worth the risk for Southgate. Not only has he represented England at the last two major tournaments, the Liverpool No. 20 also received the FA Player of the Year in 2016.

Though Lallana is not likely to start ahead of Dele Alli, there would be few better options as an impact player to come off the bench and change a game.
