What a shambles. Alexandre Lacazette and Saed Kolasnic are good signings, but Arsenal needed so much more. They still have huge weaknesses in central defence and midfield, highlighted by their 4-0 spanking by Liverpool.

They would have had money to reinvest in those areas had they sold the clearly disillusioned Alexis Sanchez and contract rebel Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain earlier in the window. The Ox left on deadline day and Sanchez was denied a move to Man City because the Gunners would not have had time to get a replacement.

Arsene Wenger is now left with a hugely restless fanbase and an imbalanced squad that isn't playing for him. This season will likely be the low point of the Frenchman’s Arsenal tenure, which will surely end if they slip out of the top six.
