Predicting The Last 16 Of The Champions League 2014/15

Group E

Predicted Table: 1. Bayern Munich 2. Manchester City 3. Roma 4. CSKA Moscow Manchester City have possibly the toughest group for any of the English teams in this year€™s competition. They face up against the five times champions Bayern Munich for the second season running and also face tricky tests against Roma and CSKA Moscow. City€™s first game against Bayern Munich ended in a 1-0 away defeat at the Allianz Arena in a performance that neither side will be completely happy with. City will be looking to get over this defeat and come back stronger against Roma next time out. This is their fourth season in a row that they have reached the group stages and they will have to fight Roma for second place in order to progress. It is an extremely competitive group but City should have the depth to qualify. Bayern Munich last won the competition in 2013 and suffered an embarrassing defeat in last season€™s semi-final against Real Madrid. They will be out to set the record straight this year and still enter the competition as one of the favourites with a very strong side. The introduction of Robert Lewandowski could prove the difference for Bayern this year and they should top this group with relative ease. As for Roma they return to the Champions League after three year absence. They finished runners-up in Serie A last season and looked very solid at the back and always a threat going forwards. With new signing Ashley Cole and returning striker Francesco Totti, they will be City€™s closest challengers to second spot. CSKA Moscow are always a tricky team for the big names in the Champions League as Russia continues to be a tough place to go and play away games in the group stages. However, the Russian champions are beset by injury and after losing 5-1 to Roma on Wednesday they will struggle to come back and push for a spot in the top two.
