Premier League: 10 January Transfers That Make Sense
2. Man Utd To Sign Ilkay Gundogan
Manchester United's midfield woes have been laid bare for all to see this season. Not in recent memory have United had a midfield this tired, average and flat out of ideas and this is surely something David Moyes must address this winter. There are too many below-par players in the Red Devil's engine room who would have a difficult time getting into any other team in the division, such as Anderson, who still, frighteningly, hasn't been ushered to the exit door, and Tom Cleverley, who has only sporadically looked like living up to his potential as "next Paul Scholes". Evidently, United need an injection of quality in the middle of the park, and an ideal signing would be Borussia Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan. Gundogan's passing abilities and technical qualities have made him an integral cog of Jurgen Klopp's Dortmund machine in recent seasons and the playmaker would provide the creativity United so badly lack right now. The German could also fill the void that STILL hasn't been filled since Scholes's retirement. Moyes should go hell for leather to sign Gundogan this month, and though ineligibility in the Champions League is an issue, this shouldn't dissuade the Scot.
