Premier League: 12 Candidates For Player Of The Season So Far

10. Santi Cazorla (Arsenal)

Cazorla

Cazorla has no doubt been one of the signings of the Premier League season so far. After signing from the financially faulty Spanish side Malaga in the Summer, for £16.5 million, he exploded onto the Premier League scene with immediate effect. He instantaneously cemented himself as the chief creative potency in the heart of the Arsenal midfield and he soon amassed a number of top quality goals for the Gunners, (A number of which were struck from outside the box.) But, Cazorla is not just a goal-scorer, he has illustrated that he has abundant midfield expertise, enabling him to kindle that creative spark on the edge of the box and in the process setting up a myriad of goal scoring opportunities. His glowing statistics of 10 goals and 6 assists in the Premier League highlight the gargantuan effect he has made at the Emirates and he has wasted no time in asserting himself as one of Arsenal's most valuable players. In fact, there was an argument to be made that in the early season, Cazorla was the standout player in the league. But since Christmas, the performances of the Spanish luminary have taken a slight plunge from his own high standards and now the favourite for the prestigious Player of the Season Award has been surpassed by the likes of Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez. However, that is not enough to deprive him of his deserved spot on the Player Of The Season shortlist.
