Premier League 2012/13 Season Predictions – 10th – 1st

3. Chelsea

What can I say about Chelsea that hasn't already been said. Defending European champions, over £70 million spent in the transfer market, another man handed the task of working under Abramovich and with Drogba gone only Fernando Torres to play up front. It seems unfair that Torres still takes a bashing at the hands of pundits, rival fans and a still angry Liverpool faithful. With the likes of Hazard, Marin, Oscar, Mata, Ramires and Lampard laying on the chances for him and no Drogba to undermine him I am going to confidently state for you now that he will match the number of league goals he scored last season (for those keeping count that number was 6). In all seriousness Chelsea have made some good signings but they will need time to bed into the league. I think in a few months Hazard could be one of the more exciting players in the league to watch. For Oscar, however, it will take longer because he is younger and because he will need to get a lot stronger physically if he is to stand up to the rigours of the Premier League. I don't see Chelsea being able to challenge for the title but I do see them taking the battle for second all the way down to the wire. Obviously as there is a number three next to their name above I see them losing the battle but not by much. First Three Games: Wigan (A), Reading (H), Newcastle (H)
