12. Manchester City

Since selling their soul for oil gazillions, Manchester City's desperate attempts to convince fans of their links to the past have largely rested on maroon sock hoops. Umbro went for the '60s nod back in 2011, and American sportswear giants Nike have revisited the trick this time around after last year's abysmal, tradition-defying shambles (though they did at least revive the old badge, updated for 'brand friendliness).

The sky blue shirts are just about all the club have left of their original identity, so one which echoes their legacy is preferred. Still, it's hard to get excited about anything relating to Man City these days. Perhaps if Georgi Kinkladze and Niall Quinn were modelling it instead of the latest raft of supermonied global stars?

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
