Premier League Flop Heads To The Champions League
Who's guessing when Porto will get rid of him... January?
Free agent Dani Osvaldo has finally completed his move to Porto having been released from Southampton halfway through his contract last month. The forward signed for the Saints for a club-record fee of around £15 million back in August 2013 but the move turned into a disaster and he saw his contract terminated just two years into a four-year deal. Incredibly, Osvaldo made just 13 appearances for the South Coast club, scoring on three occasions, before he was sent out on loan to Serie A side Juventus. Osvaldo reportedly head butted Saints captain Jose Fonte during training in January 2014, and that was said to be the main reason behind why he was sent out on loan to Juve. Since that moment, Southampton have actively looked to sell him at every opportunity but, with no takers this summer, they decided to release Osvaldo from his deal. A 14-cap Italy international - the Argentine-born forward has netted four times for his adopted nation - Osvaldo was also loaned out to Inter Milan and most recently Boca Juniors during his time at St Mary's. Porto will become the 12th club which Osvaldo has represented throughout his career - and this is now the fifth transfer window in a row in which the Italian forward has found himself as a new club.
