Premier League: Predicting 11 Top Scorers 2014/15

7. Christian Benteke

One of the early-season surprises in the Premier League has been the form of Aston Villa €“ they currently lie in third place in the table having managed two wins and a draw for the loss of one goal. Then again, they also started the 2013-14 season with a bang, defeating Arsenal away on the opening day and also overturning Manchester City in the opening weeks before the rot set in. Manager Paul Lambert came in for a wealth of criticism as Villa€™s form dipped considerably, particularly at home, and although they retained their place in the top tier of English football, the fans expected €“ and demanded €“ more. On that win at the Emirates last year, Christian Benteke followed up a rampant pre-season by scoring two goals and many feared he might soon be on his way to Arsenal or a similarly ambitious club. However, his brilliant early season form was abruptly curtailed when he suffered damage to his hip flexor in a September fixture against Norwich City and niggling injuries affected him for several months. Benteke rediscovered some form towards the end of the campaign but experienced further misfortune when an Achilles tendon rupture ended his season and prevented him from going to the World Cup. The Belgian will remain on the side-lines for the next few weeks but is expected to make a quicker-than-expected return. No doubt he will come back into the starting line-up eager to make up for lost time and although he will have already missed a number of games before reaching full fitness, few players in English football carry the threat of Benteke at his best.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
