2nd Place - Man City
Manchester City have been the quietest of all their rivals in the transfer market this summer. With Man United signing Kagawa and Powell, and looking to add Lucas Moura and van Persie, they are in danger of being left behind. Man City have never retained the League Title, but then, they are all about breaking records. They were the first club since 1955 to beat Manchester United at home by more than five goals last season, and they beat the Premier League record of 20 consecutive home wins. The first man landed on the moon a year after their last League Title triumph, but they put that frightful statistic to bed by clinching their first title since 1968. But can they do it again, or will "second season syndrome" kick in? Admittedly, they have an excellent squad, but I am predicting a second place finish for the sky blues. It is quite surprising that they haven't added to their squad yet - perhaps it is the looming threat of the Financial Fair Play Rules coming into effect next season, or the manager being content with the team at his disposal. Either way, they are still a few players short of being able to exert total dominance over the Premier League by winning it back-to-back. Mario Balotelli remains an enigma, capable of scoring and receiving a straight red in the same 90 minutes, whilst Carlos Tevez and Eden Dzeko's futures remain uncertain. City looked fairly ordinary at the back last season during Vincent Kompany's injury spell, and they still have very little in the way of cover for their captain. In spite of their expensively assembled squad, they were only able to pip a fairly average-by-comparison United team to the title on goal difference, and the team hasn't improved since.
