3. Stephane Mbia (Marseille to QPR)
The Cameroonian central defender, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, has joined Queen's Park Rangers in a deal that saw disruptive midfielder Joey Barton head in the opposite direction. Mbia is an experienced international and has currently won 38 caps for his country, which included playing in the African Cup of Nation's during the 2008/09 season. Having been routed 5-0 at home on the opening day of the season, Mark Hughes saw attempts to bring in centre backs Ricardo Carvalho from Real Madrid, and Michael Dawson from Tottenham fail, so he turned his attentions to the versatile Marseille centre back, and succeeded. Hughes will hope that this acquisition pays dividends, as Mbia has experience of winning the Ligue 1 title, and this is sure to come in handy against some of his top flight opponents. With the recent arrivals of Julio Cesar and Estoban Granero, Mbia will look to hit the ground running and make a good impression upon English football.
