2. Clint Dempsey (Fulham to Tottenham)
Having spent the summer yearning for a move to Anfield, many people will see this move as a bit of a surprise. But with Liverpool either unwilling or unable to meet Fulham's valuation of a player who had his best season in English football last year, Tottenham stepped in. This was lucky for Dempsey, who would have seemingly been left with egg on his face if he had not managed to secure a move away from a club that he no longer wants to be at. However, a goal return of 17 goals in 37 games for Fulham last year saw Andres Villas Boas sit up and pay attention. With Luka Modric leaving for the sunny shores of Spain to ply his trade for Real Madrid, AVB will be hoping that Dempsey will be able to score the goals that seemed to be the one aspect missing from Modric's game. A reported fee of £6 million (Source:

However, Dempsey, having come off the back of a tremendous season, will be hoping to do the same again, and with any luck, Spurs may have bagged themselves a real gem.
