Premier League Transfers: 10 Underrated Players Who Should Move Clubs
6. Jonjo Shelvey (Newcastle)
Often criticised for his disciplinary issues, Newcastle's Jonjo Shelvey has matured a lot as a player in recent times. He was sent off twice last season but only picked up two yellow cards in 30 league appearances and played a key role in helping Newcastle secure a very respectable top 10 finish.
The former Liverpool man has always been regarded as a high potential talent and though he hasn't quite lived up to his early promise in terms of goalscoring exploits, netting just once last season, he has grown into a deep playmaking role with his current side and is widely appreciated among Newcastle's fanbase for his craft and guile.
Often acting as the trigger for his team's attacking moves, Shelvey isn't the sort of midfielder to simply turn around and play it backwards whenever he gets the ball. He likes to make things happen and can pick out some inch-perfect passes for his teammates, providing a solid creative base from which many of Newcastle's attacks develop, as well as sending in some smart set pieces and acting as a vocal leader for his squad. He'll probably stay with Newcastle for now, but if his technical ability continues to improve to match his creative vision, he could earn a big transfer in the future.
