Premier League: Most Valuable XI

3. Wayne Rooney (Attacking Midfield)

Value: £39.6million There's no denying Wayne Rooney will remain a key figure at Manchester United until the day he retires, but the significance of his presence has waned considerably since the arrival of Robin van Persie, Angel Di Maria and Monaco loanee Radamel Falcao. In order to accommodate his sublime quality alongside some of most renowned strikers in the world, Rooney has been shifted around various positions this season and yet still managed to get himself among the goals with five to his name in 10 appearances. Despite his decent return, Louis van Gaal has publicly admitted the prolific 29-year-old hasn't impressed him playing at the focal point of his attack this term. Wayne Rooney has all the attributes to play just about anywhere on the pitch, but is he happy to see out his career primarily as a midfielder? The England international is worth his weight in gold when he's leading the line in top form; but if United elected to sell, they probably wouldn't be offered anything in the £40million range given his advancing age and hefty wage demands.
