Premier League: Most Valuable XI

8. Luke Shaw (Centre-back)

Value: £19.35million Touted as one of the most promising English players of his generation, Luke Shaw is yet another supremely talented product of the fruitful Southampton youth academy following Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott. Despite having virtually his entire playing career ahead of him, the 19-year-old is already the fourth most expensive defender of all-time behind Rio Ferdinand, Thiago Silva and David Luiz. A sizeable £21million offer from Manchester United was enough to tempt the fullback away from the south coast last June amid significant interest from big-spending Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City. Aside from talk shortly after his arrival that he wasn€™t fit enough to play for the Red Devils, Shaw has proven his worth as a Premier League and England national team regular and is more than capable of fulfilling his enormous potential should he continue his current development rate. The teenager is still finding his feet at Old Trafford, but he won€™t be heading for the exit door any time soon. Every appearance for club and country adds to his market value.
