Carla Esparza is a varsity wrestler who went on to training in the discipline under Olympian Lee Allen, and who also picked up Brazilian Jiu-jitsu along the way. She was the reigning Invicta FC strawweight champion entering into TUF 20, but vacated the belt in order to join the show. Esparza has fought and defeated some of the best, including Bec Rawlings and Felice Herrig. She has also faced and lost to Jessica Aguilar (who signed with the WSOF) and Megumi Fumi, but those loses have no doubt helped further her skill in the cage. She is without question the favourite to win TUF 20 - but we've all seen favourites go down early on the show before. In an interview posted to UFC.com, Esparza confirmed that there's definitely pressure on her, saying "I would definitely say I feel like I have a target on my back and a lot of pressure. I feel like people expect a lot from me and I don€™t want to go out there and lay an egg. I want to be what people expect me to be. I want to be that top fighter.€ Esparza now has the chance to do exactly that - be the top fighter. This, however, is likely the most stacked season of TUF in years, and it will be no easy feat.
