After three successful years at Sevilla, the Rojiblancos lured Kevin Gameiro to the Spanish capital after paying handsomely in fees for a four-year contract. He lasted only two years instead, but was far from a disappointment.

Largely an understudy to compatriot Antoine Griezmann, the French striker nevertheless struck 27 times and a made further 11 assists from 81 appearances, a large chunk of which came from the bench.

Gameiro had the knack of stepping up to the plate in crucial moments as he netted many winners and equalisers which saved Atletico's bacon, whereas on 18 February 2017, he even scored the fastest hat-trick in La Liga in 22 years when he came off the bench to net thrice against Sporting Gijon in just five minutes!

He left for Valencia in the summer of 2018 in search of regular opportunities, but not before lifting the Europa League trophy, the fourth of his career. Ever since, Gameiro has struggled for form as age seems to be catching with him.
