Ranking Liverpool's Starting XI From Real Madrid Defeat

8. Fabio Borini

Borini is never going to be a superstar, let's be honest. The 23-year-old is a player who gets the most out of his relatively limited ability, working hard for the team, holding the ball up and occasionally scoring the odd goal. That was exactly the case against Madrid. The Italian was hugely isolated for much of the game, and in truth, there was very little he could do against Varane and Sergio Ramos. He showed a great amount of endeavour though, making runs into the channel and trying to get involved as much as possible. He was very quiet, however, as Madrid dominated the ball. The former Chelsea and Roma striker is not good enough to lead the line at Anfield, but he is a solid squad member.
