Ranking Liverpool's Starting XI From Real Madrid Defeat

7. Adam Lallana

Lallana's Liverpool career has been somewhat hampered by the knee injury he picked up in pre-season, and you still feel the 26-year-old is finding his feet in a Reds shirt. He did pretty well against the European champions though. Deployed on the left, which in fairness is not his strongest position, the former Southampton man struggled to get into the game in the first-half, and his lack of blistering pace gave former Liverpool man Alvaro Arbeloa little to worry about at right-back. After the break Lallana improved, however, and whenever he got the ball there was a feeling that something might happen. He showed neat footwork, good awareness and an unpredictability that made him one of his side's more dangerous players. The England international will improve once he gets more playing time under his belt, and he will thrive if deployed more in the centre of midfield.
