Like Lallana, Can's Liverpool career has been affected by injury to date, but every time he plays it is clear that there is a huge amount of potential there. He is strong, powerful, skilful, creative and hard-working, and at just 20 years of age, he could become a very formidable midfielder in the future. He worked his socks off against the Spanish giants, pressing relentlessly and trying to burst forward whenever he could. Admittedly he gave the ball away in key areas of the pitch at times, normally because of trying to run through the Madrid midfield, but his confidence to attempt it was good to see. The Germany under-21 international is certainly someone Rodgers should use regularly, and who knows, he might even be a potential long-term successor to Steven Gerrard at Anfield. He will only get better.
