Ranking Newcastle's Transfer Dealings 2014-15 - Outgoings

3. Mathieu Debuchy - Sold For £15 Million (To Arsenal)

Season Rating: 5 Success Of Sale Rating: 9 Sell one full-back for £15 million, bring another of equal (if not better) quality in for £5 million - now that is a cracking piece of business. Well, that's exactly what Newcastle United managed to do with the sale of Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal and the acquisition of Daryl Janmaat from Feyenoord. In fact, a string of injuries have also limited Debuchy to just 14 appearances for the Gunners all season, while Janmaat has flourished on Tyneside. The Dutchman has played 40 times, scored once and contributed six assists - the third-highest from any defender in the whole of Europe. That piece of business worked out perfectly and even gave Newcastle a net £10 million profit on the deal - and arguably gave the Magpies a better full-back than the one who left... A brilliant deal all round.
