Rio Ferdinand Left Out of Man Utd's Champions League Game Against FC Galati

Rio Ferdinand won't play in the Champions League this week. The centre-back has been left out of the Manchester United squad to face FC Galati tomorrow night in their crunch Group C match. Ferdinand, who played in Man Utd's 1-1 draw with Liverpool over the weekend, was also left out of the squad that played Benfica last month. However, there is some positive news for Sir. Alex Ferguson as other centre-back Nemanja Vidic is fit again after recovering from a calf injury. Dimitar Berbatov, who missed United's 1-1 draw against Liverpool, has travelled to Romania, but Tom Cleverley (foot) and Rafael (shoulder) are out. Manchester United are looking for their first win in this season's Champions League - and against a side manager Alex Ferguson admitted he had "never heard of" before this year's competition. Presumably the likes of Wayne Rooney, Nani and Javi Hernandez who were rested during the game against Liverpool will feature in the match this week that Fergie clearly thought was more important.
