Wigan boss is the bookies favourite to replace Kenny Dalglish as the next permanent manager of Liverpool football club.

the bookies favourite to replace Kenny Dalglish as the next permanent manager of Liverpool football club. British newspapers reported on Sunday that the 38-year-old Spaniard had "caught the eye" of American owners John Henry and Tom Werner after an impressive 2012 with Wigan and that they were preparing to make a move for the Latics boss after losing faith in Dalglish following a poor league campaign. Bookies suggest Martinez is around 10/11 and 6/4 or 6/5 at most places to be the new Anfield boss. Previously, Wigan chairman Dave Whelan admitted that he would give Martinez €œhis blessing€ should a top European club make an approach for him. Current second favourite for the job is another Spaniard, former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, who has been out of work since he was sacked by Inter Milan in 2010. Benitez was Liverpool's most successful manager of the modern era, winning the prestigious Champions League in 2005 along with the FA Cup in the same year and guiding Liverpool to a second place finish in 2008/2009 season. Third favourite at most outlets is recently sacked Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas with two of the Premier League's most impressive newcomers, Norwich manager Paul Lambert and Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers also in the mix.
