Ryan Giggs: 10 Greatest Moments At Man Utd

7. Securing United's 17th Title

United fans have endured a few nail-shredding final days down the years with the Premier League title race going down to the wire, none more so than in 2012, when neighbours City pipped them to the post. 2008 was a happier time, however, when United prevailed on another tension soaked final day of the season with Chelsea breathing down their neck every step of the way. And that success was thanks to none other than, you guessed it, Ryan Giggs. United went into their final game of the season against Wigan Athletic needing a win to win the league. Cristiano Ronaldo put the Red Devils 1-0 up after just half an hour but there was very little breathing space, Emile Heskey wasting a gilt-edged chance. With the game delicately poised at 1-0 going into the final 10 minutes, Giggs made it safe after collecting a superb pass from Wayne Rooney to smash low into the bottom corner and spark wild scenes of celebrations as Sir Alex Ferguson busted out one of his famous jugs down the touchline at the JJB Stadium, before United collected their 17th, and Giggs's 10th, Premier League title, pipping Chelsea by two points. Giggs equalled Charlton's appearance record in this match, breaking it in the aforementioned Champions League final as United enjoyed another stellar season.
