Siem De Jong WILL Play A Part Vs. West Ham
A welcome boost if there ever was one for John Carver...
Siem de Jong is set to hand Newcastle United Head Coach John Carver a welcome boost for Sunday's crucial game at home to West Ham United. The forward has declared himself fit amid speculation that he suffered yet another setback in his latest comeback from injury. De Jong, who returned last month from the collapsed lung he suffered in February, is officially back in training and pushing for a place on John Carver's bench. The Dutch international showed how crucial he could still prove to be in The Magpies fight against relegation by netting a classy volley late on in the home defeat to Swansea. Newcastle really need to be picking up something from the game against The Hammers or hope Hull City lose at home to Manchester United. But as West Brom showed against Chelsea on Monday, you can't always count on the big teams doing you a favour when they have nothing left to play for. At the end of the day, a win will save their Premier League bacon and should be a result well within their capabilities against a West Ham side who have spent the last few weeks on a beach somewhere. Speaking last week, Carver insisted that de Jong was fit and rubbish speculation that he wouldn't be seen again this season. He said: Siems not injured, he just needs to strengthen his quad muscle, and he could be available for the West Ham game.
