Southampton Transfers: 5 More Players Who Could Leave (And 5 Who Could Join)
2. Jay Rodriguez
An injury may have finished Rodriguez's season prematurely last year and denied him a potential place in the England squad for Brazil, but he still managed to score 15 times in 33 games, his best goalscoring season yet. Naturally being one of the top scoring English players last year has attracted a lot of interest in the former Burnley man. The usual suspects in terms of this summer's interest in Southampton talent - Liverpool and Tottenham - look set to battle it out for Rodriguez's signature. Former Saints boss Pochettino is an obvious admirer of J-Rod and was responsible for the forward realising his potential in a way he had not under predecessor Nigel Adkins. Pochettino would be keen to bring Rodriguez with him to White Hart Lane, especially with Spurs' misfiring strikers, but Brendan Rodgers still has his Suarez millions to spend as is in the market for a forward after Loic Remy's failed medical. That injury, though, could prove a blessing in disguise for Saints with Rodriguez still not match fit and other forwards more in the spotlight for their World Cup performances.
