Sports Personality Of The Year 2013: Ranking The Big Contenders

1. Andy Murray

Andy Murray Who else was going to top this list but Wimbledon 2013 champion Andy Murray. The Scot became the first British man to win at SW19 since Fred Perry in 1936 and has been the front runner to receive the accolade of Sports Personality of the Year since that day in July, when he beat world number 1 Novak Djokovic in straight sets in one of the highlights of the year. As well as winning at Wimbledon, Murray has won over a lot of fans in the last 18 months or so since his first Wimbledon final in 2012 and could prove to be the people's choice for the award. Murray finished third in 2012 behind Sir Bradley Wiggins and Jessica Ennis following his Gold and Silver Olympic medals and U.S Open win, but 2013 has to be his year, with Wimbledon surely being the biggest individual sporting accolade in Britain. Murray is currently injured, but plans to return in the New Year, where he will look to build on his most successful year to date. Or in other words, a clear favourite for the award.
