Spurs: 5 Reasons Tim Sherwood Should Not Be A Stop Gap
4. Strength Of Character
Daniel Levy does not like weakness. If you summed up the Tottenham chairman's decision making in one word it would be ruthless. Levy would have a novice manager for breakfast. So for Sherwood to state that he would take the Spurs job full time only if his terms were met was not just courageous, it was also impressive to his future boss. Sherwood will need that mental fortitude if he is to prosper at the Lane. Levy is notorious for his transfer tactics, and the presence of Franco Baldini in the Sporting Director role only complicates matters. However, Sherwood showed in the recent window that he will not allow anyone else to dictate the make up or personnel of his squad. No matter if he succeeds or fails, it will be on his terms. That the man who won a Premier League title with Blackburn drew a line in the sand so early in his tenure will surely help him out later on. Too often Tottenham's ambitions have been stunted by a disjointed squad caused by Levy's activities (or lack of) in the transfer market. Perhaps Sherwood will stop Spurs missing so many opportunities all for the sake of a few quid.
