Spurs Transfer News: Benjamin Stambouli Signs
French defensive midfielder joins from Montpellier.

He has signed a five-year contract at White Hart Lane, becoming Mauricio Pochettinos sixth signing of the summer, and is rumoured to have cost Spurs just £4.7 million.
He is a holding player who played 37 of Montpelliers 38 league games last season and his signing will cast doubt on players like Sandro and Paulinho - who were already somewhat out in the cold at White Hart Lane - and it could trigger some outward movement, with Sandro linked to Harry Redknapp's Queens Park Rangers.
Spurs started the season well, but suffered their first loss yesterday - to Liverpool at White Hart Lane in a 3-0 defeat - and Stambouli will be tasked with helping to protect the Spurs defence to reduce the number of big defeats the team suffer at the hands of their top-of-the-table rivals - with last season being particularly terrible in that regard.
