Spurs Transfer News: Former Man Utd Star Giuseppe Rossi To Replace Jermain Defoe?

Tottenham Hotspur are mulling over a big money move for Fiorentina and former Manchester United frontman Giuseppe Rossi to solve their goal shortage.

According to the Daily Express, under fire Spurs head coach Andre Villas-Boas could launch a bid of £30 million to sign Italy striker Rossi, 26, in January. He leads the race for the Serie A golden boot, netting a dozen times in 14 matches. Speculation is mounting that Jermain Defoe will quit Spurs for MLS franchise Toronto in the New Year, so AVB may need to find a replacement. Rossi has returned to action in Italy in hot form this year after missing over 18 months of action with a serious knee injury he sustained at Villarreal. Only basement club Crystal Palace and fellow strugglers Sunderland have found the net on fewer occasions than Hotspur with a third of the season gone. Cardiff City, Fulham and Norwich City €“ three of the other sides in the bottom seven €“ are tied with Tottenham for the third worst scoring record in the division going into the midweek fixtures at the start of December.
