Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham To Bid For Loic Remy?

Guardian. It is understood manager Andre Villas-Boas is contemplating triggering the Frenchman's reported £8 million release clause to bring him to White Hart Lane, just four months after he moved to the West London club. QPR are in serious danger going into the final weeks of the season and look certain for relegation following their heartbreaking 1-1 draw with rivals Wigan at the weekend. Harry Redknapp's side are 7 points adrift of safety and have just 6 games left to play. Were they to hurtle into the Championship, Remy would almost certainly leave and the Lilly Whites have had their eye on the forward for some time. He has been in inspired form since his move to the Premier League and has bagged 5 goals in 8 appearances in the division already this term. He also scored a wonder goal against Wigan at the weekend which only served to increase his stock. Remy was a target for Tottenham during Harry Redknapp's tenure there but owner Daniel Levy was deterred by former club Marseille's valuation of upward of £15 million. Spurs know they will be able to get their man for cheaper considering QPR's urgent need to lighten the wage bill as they prepare for life after the Premier League, and now would be as good a time as any to take full advantage and make an offer.
