Spurs Transfers: 10 Linked Players Tottenham Should Avoid

9. Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton)

Nathaniel Clyne is a good player with a hell of a lot of potential and Spurs would be lucky to have him, but it's the simple fact that Spurs currently have one of the best right backs in the Premier League in their ranks that makes his signing a bad idea and signing another one should be well down on their list of priorities at the moment. Having top quality backup in all positions is essential for a club with big aspirations, but with Spurs already having Kyle Walker, Kyle Naughton and the promising Ryan Fredericks at their disposal, it seems as though a move for another right back would be using money that could be better spent elsewhere. It would also unsettle one of Spurs' better players in Kyle Walker and not necessarily be a good move for Clyne himself, who would likely find himself on the bench and having his overall development as a player slowed down. Mauricio Pochettino is understandably being linked with a number of his former players, but Nathaniel Clyne is one that he should forget about.
