Spurs Transfers: 10 Linked Players Tottenham Should Avoid
3. Alberto Gilardino (Genoa)
Although the sources haven't exactly been reliable, there has certainly been talk in the Spurs Community that Alberto Gilardino could be heading to White Hart Lane. However, those rumours seem to have cooled and he seems more likely to be heading to China to join up with his former boss Marcelo Lippi at Guangzhou Evergrande FC. The Italian striker currently plays for Genoa in his homeland, having previously played for the likes of Parma, Milan and Fiorentina, and his career seems to be on a downwards trajectory (particularly if the China rumours are to be believed). He will be 32 years old next month too, so he is no spring chicken in footballing terms, and he would not represent a long-term solution to Tottenham's currently threadbare attack. There is no denying his quality, and his goalscoring record speaks for itself, but given his age and given that the China rumours would suggest that, not only is his quality fading, but that he is simply looking for one last big pay day, it would surely be wiser for Spurs to look for a more hungry young striker who could potentially lead the White Hart Lane club's attack for many years to come.
