Spurs Transfers: 10 Most Wildly Over-Priced Signings Ever

2013 wasn't the only year Spurs have thrown away masses of money...

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have made some excellent signings over the years - and with highly profitable outcomes (in terms of financial profit, at least). Gareth Bale is the prime example - the Welshman cost the club a mere £7 million and, after six years of service to the club, he was sold to Real Madrid for a world record fee of around £85 million. With other top players like Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Carrick and Luka Modric signing for relatively small fees and being moved on for at least double the price when a bigger club came calling, Spurs have garnered a reputation as something of a feeder club to the truly big teams in Europe - bringing players in, turning them in to world class professionals, and selling them when they apparently outgrow the White Hart Lane side. But that's not always the case. Spurs have spent a lot of money on a plethora of flops. In some cases - like that of current player Nacer Chadli, for example - the £7 million spent on the player is, of course, a lot of money, but it should be very easy to recoup should Spurs wish to move the player on. In other cases, spending a lot of money on a player who doesn't perform can, has and will result in a terrible investment for the club. In this article, we're going to look at some of those examples. Here are Spurs' ten most wildly over-priced signings ever (in no particular order)...
