5. Edin Dzeko
If Soldado does prove to be too expensive this summer, Spurs have lined up Edin Dzeko as an alternative, according to
Sports Direct News. The North London outfit have already had a £21 million offer for the Valencia ace rejected and with the La Liga club holding out for the player's full 30 million (£26 million) release clause, the Lilywhites have identified other targets. Manchester City striker Dzeko is one of them, after the Bosnia international found himself increasingly marginalised at the Etihad last season. The 27-year-old was used mainly as an impact substitution and could be tempted by a move. The former Wolfsburg man is likely to find competition for places even tougher in Manchester next season given that new manager Manuel Pellegrini has signed two new forwards in Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic. And that could lead to him being deemed surplus to requirements if he stays. Dzeko cost City
£27 million when they bought him in 2011 and is unlikely to fetch that much considering he is no longer an essential part of the Citizen's starting XI.
