Spurs Transfers: 5 January Signings To Save Their Season

5. Andrea Ranocchia

Having conceded five to Liverpool and six to Manchester City, a defensive reinforcement or two certainly wouldn't go amiss in January - particularly at centre-back. At 30, captain Michael Dawson cannot carry on forever while Younès Kaboul has been blighted by injuries, inconsistency and lack of fitness over the past 18 months, missing all but one game of last season. And one man who could help Tottenham's wobbly, injury-prone defence is Inter Milan centre-back Andrea Ranocchia, who has also been linked with Chelsea and Man United recently and is apparently looking for a transfer. Reports that Ranocchia is unsettled at the San Siro surfaced earlier this month with the defender reportedly contemplating handing in a transfer request. Inter are currently fifth in Serie A and aren't even in Europe this season, and the Italian could be seeking a fresh challenge away in the New Year.
