Spurs Transfers: 5 January Signings To Save Their Season

4. Domenico Criscito

As well as centre-back being a problem area at White Hart Lane, so too is left-back. Having allowed Benoit Assou-Ekotto join Queens Park Rangers on loan over the summer, Danny Rose is the only out-and-out left-back at the club, with Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Naughton being used as cover at times. This is something that needs to be addressed in January, because relying on one left-back to get you through a season is a fool's errand. One player who could help abate this issue is long-term target Domenico Criscito, the fullback of whom Spurs have so frequently been linked with in the past. Tottenham are keen on signing the Zenit St. Petersburg man, and will test the Russian club's resolve to hang on to the player in January, according to reports. It is understood Criscito was on Villas-Boas' radar during his tenure, with the Portuguese scouting the defender on several occasions, and he could be a target for the new Tottenham manager, too.
